How to rekey a smart lock
Rekeying a smart lock is similar to rekeying a traditional lock. Here are some general steps to rekey a smart lock:
1.Purchase a rekeying kit that is compatible with your smart lock model.
2.Remove the lock from the door and identify the retaining ring. Use a wrench-like ring remover to remove the retaining ring from the lock cylinder. Put the retainer ring somewhere you'll find it later when reassembling the lock.
3.Take out the cylinder plug. Insert the key for the current lock into the cylinder and turn it to separate the upper and lower lock pins.
4.Replace the old pins with the new pins provided in the rekeying kit. Match the color of the new pins with the color code provided with the kit.
5.Reassemble the lock by reversing the steps taken to disassemble it.
6.Test the lock with the new key to ensure it is working properly.
It's important to note that the process of rekeying a smart lock may vary depending on the manufacturer and model of the lock. Always refer to the user manual or contact the manufacturer's customer support for specific instructions.
